Not only children but also adults love to create things with their own hands. And if the creative activity is holiday-themed, even more so!

Recently, a master class dedicated to celebrating the Christmas and New Year holiday cycle gathered participants of various ages – from primary and middle school students to their parents. Thanks to the support of the International Organization for Migration, families of internally displaced persons also visited us.

First, participants recalled and learned something new from Tetiana Nykyrsa, a leading researcher in the local nature department, about the traditions of celebrating winter holidays – from Roman to Jordan (Epiphany), and discussed the customs and beliefs of our ancestors. Afterwards, they learned about coniferous trees from local flora used to decorate homes for the New Year. They also considered the advantages and disadvantages of artificial Christmas trees, as well as the rules for choosing a live coniferous tree.

And finally, they created a wonderful picture of a Christmas tree made from air clay, decorated with colourful beads and glitter. Both children and adults had an interesting and useful time!
