This department within the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore began operating in July 2011. Veronika Valeriivna Hnatiuk (Hnatiuk-Hanych) works as a conservator-restorer. In 2014, she received the III qualification category in easel oil painting. She is a graduate of Ivan Ohienko Kamianets-Podilskyi National University, specializing in "Restoration of Artworks".

The collection of paintings in the CHRML funds numbers around 3 thousand museum items, among which are a number of extremely valuable and interesting icons. The restoration of icons has been a priority in the work of the museum's conservator-restorer in recent years.

Restoration is a meticulous and slow process. Work on preserving a single artwork can take from several months to several years, depending on the volume and complexity of the work. During her time at the museum, Veronika Hnatiuk has already restored several dozen artworks, most of which are icons, paintings (some works of decorative and applied art have been partially renewed).
