The Department of Scientific, Educational, and Methodological Work conducts research, exhibition, collection management, educational, and methodological activities:
- ensures the planning and organisation of visitor tour services;
- the department's staff are involved in exhibiting thematic exhibitions, conducting tours, and various scientific and educational events;
- the department provides methodological training for tour guides;
- coordinates the museum's public relations and media outreach;
- conducts the museum's advertising and information activities (promotion and informational support for museum services and projects, posting announcements, creating posters and brochures, filling the museum's website and social media pages with various information (Facebook, Instagram, Telegram).
- the department's staff systematically record general and thematic tours, off-site classes, lectures, museum holidays, presentations, master classes, and quests.
Priority areas for the department's work include educational programmes for children, teenagers, and students, aimed at the spiritual development of the younger generation, deepening knowledge about the nature and history of Bukovyna, culture, traditions, and folk art based on primary sources, which are museum exhibits.
An important area of the department's work is providing methodological assistance on issues concerning the creation and improvement of community museums, the accounting and preservation of museum collections, and the enhancement and renewal of existing and creation of new museum exhibitions. In addition, department staff monitor the network of community museums in Chernivtsi Oblast. Currently, there are over 140 community-based museums operating in Chernivtsi Oblast, which are categorised by profile into museums of village and enterprise history, memorial and ethnographic museums, museums of applied art, and folk art.
The department's research staff are involved in organising and participating in scientific meetings, methodological seminars, and scientific conferences at the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore and other museums, higher education institutions, and other institutions in Ukraine and abroad.
