Branch – M. Eminescu Literary and Memorial Museum

Address: 58001, Chernivtsi, A. Pumnul St., 19
Head: Olena Dmytrivna VYNTU-TERYTSANU – 0372 526239

Founded in 1992, the museum operates as a branch of the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore.

Currently, the museum does not have a permanent stationary exhibition. The premises at Chernivtsi, A. Pumnul St., 19, where the museum is planned to be located, require major repairs. Given the current situation, the main activities of the museum's head, Olena Dmytrivna VYNTU-TERYTSANU, are focused on studying the life and creative path of the writer in Bukovina, forming the museum's collection, and conducting exhibition and scientific-educational activities.

Since its establishment, the museum has collected over 1700 museum objects: editions of M. Eminescu's works, both lifetime and contemporary, illustrations for the poet's works created by renowned artists from Ukraine and Romania, facsimiles of manuscripts of all M. Eminescu's works, and others.

Stationary exhibitions about the life and work of Mihai Eminescu, a Romanian poet, publicist, and world-renowned public and cultural figure, are periodically displayed at the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore, the E. Hurmuzachi Romanian Culture Center, and the premises of the Mihai Eminescu Chernivtsi Regional Society of Romanian Culture.

Due to the absence of a permanent exhibition at the M. Eminescu Literary and Memorial Museum, themed excursions are offered to all interested parties, covering city addresses connected with the Chernivtsi period in the life of the prominent Romanian writer.

Annually, events commemorating Mihai Eminescu on the occasion of his birthday (January 15) and death (June 15) are held on the future museum's premises, by the writer's bust. Representatives of the Consulate General of Romania in Chernivtsi, representatives of cultural and public organizations of the region, and guests from Moldova and Romania are invited to participate in these events.

Evenings of romances set to M. Eminescu's words, literary evenings of Romanian poetry, and meetings with Ukrainian and Romanian literary figures, organized and conducted by the M. Eminescu Literary and Memorial Museum, also spark interest among Chernivtsi residents.
