On March 30, an event was held in Zhovtnevy Park dedicated to returning bats to nature. These bats had been cared for (rehabilitated) during the winter by volunteers – employees of the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore.

Several hundred participants joined the event. They not only learned many new and interesting facts about bats but also had the chance to examine them up close, see them eat, and even touch them. The event concluded after sunset, when many young and adult visitors had the unique opportunity to personally release the animals into free flight, giving them a new chance at a full life.

We are pleased that the event received a widespread positive response from participants. They were able to confirm that bats are not scary or hostile at all, but rather very cute and endearing creatures. Most myths associated with them are either significant exaggerations or outright fabrications. Although their lives truly possess an incredible number of fascinating characteristics that make these animals so unique.

We are sincerely grateful to everyone who found the opportunity to join the event. We hope that the participants (especially the children) will remember this positive experience of interacting with bats. And we hope that the event will help draw attention to these animals and the threats that lead to their disappearance.
