Opening of the exhibition «55 Shades of Soul»

15.04.2025 15:00

55 SHADES OF THE SOUL. Under this title, an exhibition by the talented and versatile artist Ihor Honcharov was opened on April 15th, on World Art Day and International Culture Day, at the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore.

Why this particular title? Because Mr. Ihor turned 55 on April 1st.

The exhibition presented within the walls of the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore is just a small part of his creative output, primarily a dedication to himself and his talent. And the artist certainly has something to be proud of…

What exactly can be seen at the exhibition?

The artist works in many techniques, so numerous works are presented in the museum. Most of them are executed using openwork carving on eggshells and rhinestone inlay. Ostrich, goose, duck, turkey, chicken, and quail eggs serve as the material.

Ihor Honcharov moved to Chernivtsi from Lysychansk. As a token of gratitude to the city that warmly welcomed him, he created the "Workshop of Gratitude" along with other displaced persons.

"I dreamed of an exhibition for a whole year, but I didn't expect to be able to hold it at the museum of local lore. This is a great honour for me. All my previous works remained in the occupied territory, and there is no hope of returning there. The exhibition features all the new works I have created since living in Chernivtsi. I am sincerely grateful to Bukovyna for welcoming our family, to the people who help in everything, and to my son and daughter for supporting and loving my works. Perhaps the exhibition would not have happened if not for my wife, with whom we have lived for 25 years in a 'creative union'. She provides great help and support. She is 'the fire in the hearth of my inspiration'. Her DNA is in all my endeavours," the artist said with trepidation.

The event was moderated by Oksana Rotar, Deputy Director of Scientific Work at the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore. She introduced the guests to the artist's creative journey. Mr. Ihor recalled where it all began: dancing, music, journalism, penmanship, blacksmithing, wood products, pysanka, and much more.

Pysanka is the best amulet, a symbol of life. Pysanky decorated by Ihor Honcharov are a special work of high art. His works are incredibly delicate, requiring lightness and confidence in execution. Each egg enchants with the tenderness of picturesque lace and glows with light from within.

Everyone interested can visit the exhibition "55 Shades of the Soul," which will run until May 15th.
