November 3, 2023, marks 105 years since a memorable event for our region – the Bukovynian People's Assembly. On this day, the people of Bukovyna demonstrated state-building thinking and made a historic decision to join the Western Ukrainian State with subsequent unification with the Ukrainian People's Republic into a single state.
On this occasion, an exhibition of valuable exhibits titled 'UNR in Philatelic Works' – a collection of original stamps with Ukrainian state symbols – opened at #ЧОКМ. The stamps were printed during the first quarter of the 20th century, created by various artists in different styles, yet united by the common idea of a United Ukraine. The collection of stamps was donated by patron Andriy Kholodov through the mediation of our compatriot, People's Deputy of Ukraine Heorhiy Mazurashu.
In the museum's exhibition hall, dedicated to the events of 1918, a presentation of the stamp collection and an active discussion of the turbulent events of the Ukrainian Revolution period took place. Heorhiy Mazurashu shared the history of the formation of this rare collection. Leading research fellows of the museum, Candidates of Historical Sciences Mykola Hlibishchuk and Tetiana Minaieva, and heads of museum departments Oksana Drahomyretska and Mariia Ungurian, expressed their thoughts and impressions regarding those historical events and the development of philately during the UNR period.
Finally, acting director Oksana Rotar sincerely thanked for the valuable gift, which will take a prominent place in the museum's exhibition, and expressed confidence that this collection will become one of the highlights and attract visitors' attention.
