From September 7 - 17, at #ЧОКМ, the exhibition «SARDAK.UA» is active, as part of the eponymous project supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.

The exhibition showcases modern sardaks, made in the studio of the project's author, designer Svitlana Krachylo. The sardaks are sewn based on adapted and authentic patterns from ancient samples in the collection of the Chernivtsi Oblast Museum of Local Lore, which were previously presented in the first stage of the exhibition «I won't cast you off, my sardak».

The exhibition will be complemented by textile panels featuring original embroidery techniques.

The sardak, as a symbol of Ukrainian identity, is an armor that supports the spirit and gives strength to fight against the enemy. Therefore, each sardak was created for an individual image for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, wives of fallen soldiers, doctors, artists, patriots, and Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes due to the war.

The exhibition is given meaningful content by an art object: a black frame with a sardak inside. The black thread entwining the frame symbolizes the negative phenomena that hinder the unfolding of the power of Ukrainian culture and state. Visitors to the exhibition can wrap the thread around the frame as many times as obstacles come to mind, thus participating in the performance. At the end of the exhibition, the bonds will be broken – the sardak will free Ukrainian strength.
