February 3rd marks the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists. On this occasion, a well-attended event was held at the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore, with participation from representatives of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Chernivtsi Regional and City Societies of Political Prisoners and Repressed Persons, the State Archives of Chernivtsi Region, the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Centre for Culture and Leisure, and concerned citizens.
The event began with the song "We were born in a great hour," performed by the T. Stinkovyi folk amateur male choir chapel "Dzvin" of lecturers, staff, and students of Chernivtsi National University under the direction of Lyubomyr Ravlyuk. A minute of silence honoured all heroes who gave their lives for the freedom and liberty of the Ukrainian state.
Tetyana Minaieva, Head of the Department of Recent History of the Region, Candidate of Historical Sciences, spoke about the historical prerequisites for the creation of OUN. Ihor Piddubnyi, Doctor of Historical Sciences, spoke about OUN's activities in Bukovina.
Mykola Rubanets, Director of the State Archives of Chernivtsi Region, presented an exhibition on state-building processes in Bukovina in 1941, and Ivanna Kushnir, a research fellow at the State Archives of Chernivtsi Region, introduced selected archival files revealing pages of OUN's activities.
Oleksandr Fysiuk and Mykhailo Berezovskyi, representatives of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Centre for Culture and Leisure, read the "Decalogue of a Nationalist," and O. Fysiuk also performed the song "The Steppe Wind Blew." Oksana Bohutska, a student of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, shared her thoughts on the importance of knowing and remembering the heroism of OUN.
Also addressing those present were Bohdan Hamaliya, acting head of the NGO "Tactical Group 4.5.0.," and Vasyl Boichuk, head of the KUN in Chernivtsi Region.
Throughout the event, songs such as "Where is that glory?" and "There on Mount Makivka" were performed by the T. Stinkovyi folk amateur male choir chapel "Dzvin."
The event was moderated by Mykola Hlibishchuk, a leading research fellow in the Department of Recent History of the Region, Candidate of Historical Sciences.
The event concluded with a performance of "Oh, in the Meadow, a Red Viburnum" and the National Anthem of Ukraine, sung by all present.
