On April 11, 2025, an event titled «Antiquities of Bukovina of the Late Antique Period» took place at the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore, dedicated to the 106th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Ukrainian archaeologist Borys Onysymovych Tymoshchuk.

The museum's archaeological hall gathered many scholars from several generations, guests, and relatives of Borys Onysymovych.

The event was moderated by Oksana Hryhorivna Dragomyretska, Head of the Department of Archaeology, Medieval History, and Modern History of the Region, who outlined the main milestones in the life and work of the prominent scholar.

Chernivtsi scholars who attended the event were happy to share their memories of B. O. Tymoshchuk. Vasyl Fedorovych Kholodnytskyi, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, spoke about his years of study at the university, his archaeological field trips under the guidance of Borys Onysymovych, and recalled many interesting facts that remained etched in his memory.

Serhiy Volodymyrovych Pyvovarov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, also spoke about his teacher and mentor.

Mykola Volodymyrovych Ilkiv, Candidate of Historical Sciences, assistant at the Department of World History at Chernivtsi National University, leading researcher at CRML in his presentation, emphasized B. O. Tymoshchuk's significant contribution to the archaeological research of Late Roman period sites in our region.

S. V. Pyvovarov introduced the guests to artifacts from his own archaeological research and items from Borys Onysymovych's excavations, which are presented in the exhibition of new acquisitions to the CRML funds.

Guests' attention was drawn to Roman coins, beads and fibulae, amphora fragments, and stone casting molds discovered in Bukovina. Oleksandr Valeriyovych Rusnak, Candidate of Historical Sciences, assistant at the Department of History of Ukraine, spoke in more detail about one such casting mold used for making lunulae and pendants.

Oksana Vasylivna Rotar, Deputy Director for Research, presented a letter of gratitude to B. O. Tymoshchuk's grandson, Roman Mykhailovych, for his patronage and support of our museum.

At the end of the event, guests had the opportunity to view the exhibition and ask Professor S. V. Pyvovarov more detailed questions about the archaeological finds.
